Volunteer Management Committee

A volunteer Management Committee known as the Board manages the Association within the guidelines of the Association and Incorporations Act.

A diverse skills mix exists to ensure cultural, consumer and service sectors are well represented. The Board welcome members of the Community who are able to positively and ethically contribute to the service by holding a position on the Committee or various sub-committees whose aim is to assist young people to reach their full potential.

The Executive meet Bi- Monthly.

Elections are held each year at the Annual General Meeting usually held each December and nominations are taken from its financial members from a variety of sectors in the local community. At the AGM the Annual Report is delivered and the Auditor's Report is tabled.

People interested in being involved in a youth and family focussed organisation can contribute in many ways and new membership applications are always welcome. All Committee members will be required to hold a positive notice - suitability card for working with young people.

Executive and Committee Positions held by members on the Management Committee oversee the organisation and are the legal entities. Full insurance for Volunteers exists and the Management Committee are required to work within the guidelines of the Associations & Incorporations Act. And the Bundaberg Area Youth Service Inc. Constitution and Governance Charter (2005) Strategic Planning is held Annually and various sub committees are formed to oversee various arms of the organisation such as Fundraising, Complaints & Review Panel, Cultural & Community Promotion and Board Governance and Strategic Planning.

The Youth Management Team meet Monthly

The Youth Management Team is a group of Young people working together for other Young people. They meet regularly and hold local youth events, concerts, workshops, fun days and forums which provide a voice for young people in their community and assist in the planning and coordination of programs and projects run by Youth Services Bundaberg. There are a variety of projects needing talent to bring these projects together and new members are always welcome.

What Take part in event planning, concerts, fun days and workshops. Contribute to the creation and development of the Monthly Magazine
Why Meet with other young people, make new friends who share similar interests you have, plan youth events for your community, art and creative film and photographic workshops, be published, have your say about what is happening in your community, be creative, learn new things, gain new skills plus lots more.
How The Management Committee consult with young people who meet regularly via this group on their visions and opinions they have for their local Community. These projects are funded wholly on the fundraising efforts of this group and our sponsors.

Local unmet needs and issues, which portray young people in a positive and negative manner, are discussed in monthly forums and opportunities for young people to Speak Out and are proactive in making a real difference. Peer leadership programs are offered and a variety of projects and events driven by local young people are on offer.

Young people 12 - 24 yrs form the executive members of the Youth Management Team.

Staff & Services

A team of skilled Staff & Volunteers work in various programs overseeing the day-to-day operations of the services and all are required to meet the suitability to work with children requirements and deliver the outcomes of each project. Programs are funded by both state and commonwealth governments and these programs and services are a combined team of Counsellors, Trainers, Social Workers, Welfare Workers, Health professionals and Youth & Community Workers

Funding

In part, public funds from Tax Payers fund the service and they are tendered for through a process for the duration of contracts. Different funding bodies administer these funds. The various funding bodies monitor the services by way of a Reporting system collecting data on Services and Finances. Bundaberg Area Youth Service Inc. - gratefully acknowledges the ongoing support of The Commonwealth Government Dept of Families and Community Services and Indigenous Office - Queensland Health & Queensland Dept of Housing.

The generosity of our local sponsors and community members ensure the ongoing work of the organisation so it may continue to assist young people and their families living in the Bundaberg and surrounding Districts.
